Prayer Meeting 4/29

Romans 8:1-11

Verse 1 and 2 - Read it, understand it, know it.

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

You either choose sin or God. Verse 1 reaffirms us that there is no condemnation for those who accept Christ's sacrifice.

Condemnation: to judge or pronounce to be unfit for use or service, to express an unfavorable or adverse judgment on; indicate strong disapproval of; censure, to pronounce to be guilty; sentence to punishment.

Christ has paid the ransom and we are set free from the bounds of sin. Verse 9 explains the condition of ownership. If the Spirit of God lives in us, we belong to Him. We are no longer controlled by ourselves or sins that have tempted us in the past. We belong to Christ and He belongs to us.

Amen.

When I heard this during prayer meeting, a few thoughts went through my head. I am eternally thankful by the grace that was show so that we are not eternally condemned. Jesus poured out the necessary sacrifice on the cross in the largest display of love and grace in the history of mankind.

So then, if our King does not condemn us for our actions, why do we condemn one another? Why do we judge? Why do we look down upon each other? Our God does not look upon us with eyes of condemnation and while we claim to be followers of Him, our actions do not align with His actions. Just a thought.
